Rookie Training focuses on the time a person joins staff to the first year of employment. It contains two key training initiatives: The Fundamentals and Training Camp. The goal is to provide the staff member clarity in his or her calling to FCA and commitment to the competencies of a staff member.
The Fundamentals:
The Fundamentals serve as an introduction to the ministry of FCA. Staff will gain a better understanding of the ministries of FCA around the Four C’s and “Best Practices.”
- Training of the FCA Basics – Four C’s, Administrative, Fundraising, Technology
- Staff person works through Fundamentals Playbook and online training
- 25 hours of training modules
- Must be completed by all new staff in the first 90 days
- Must be completed before attending the Training Camp at National Support Center (NSC) in Kansas City.
- Digs deeper into ministry components – not just what we do, but why and how we do it
- Issued when someone is hired on FCA staff
- Includes the Fundamentals Playbook and 7 Practices of Effective Ministry by Andy Stanley and Spiritual Leadership by Oswald Sanders
Training Camp:
Training Camp is an opportunity for staff to build the skills necessary to accomplish their FCA role. New staff are automatically enrolled in this week-long experience at the National Support Center in the first available class after their first 90 days and The Fundamentals have been completed.
- Hands-On Training with planning
- Week-long experience to develop The Fundamentals
- Opportunity to get to know NSC staff
- To be attended before the first year of employment
- Focused on key relationships and personal spiritual growth
- Offered twice a year for field staff and once a year for administrative assistants
- Class size does not exceed 30 attendees
- Cost of training, room and board is covered by the NSC—the staff person has to pay only for travel to Kansas City.
